Mr. Murphy has worked with hundreds of borrowers on their hedging needs since 2001. During his long tenure at Swap Financial Group, Jim has advised on more than 1,500 hedging transactions, totaling approximately $50 billion in notional amount. Jim assists clients with a variety of services, including risk analysis, hedge structuring, counterparty selection, negotiated and competitive hedge execution, ISDA documentation negotiation, Dodd-Frank onboarding and compliance, derivative valuation and monitoring, and GASB/FASB effectiveness testing and reporting. Based in the New York office, Jim covers a broad range of clients across the country, which include corporate, real estate, non-profit 501(c)3 organizations, and municipal entities. Jim heads SFG’s coverage for our real estate clients, which include developers and investors of conventional and affordable multifamily housing, as well as senior living, student housing, office, and industrial properties. Jim has long expertise with all types of interest rate derivative products including swaps, caps, floors, swaptions, collars, and corridors; as well as commodity hedges for diesel (ULSD), gasoline (RBOB), and natural gas. Mr. Murphy is a registered Municipal Advisor, having completed the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) Series 50 exam for Municipal Advisor Representative. Mr. Murphy holds a BA degree with a concentration in Economics from Princeton University.
